I borrowed one of those e-card sayings from a friend on Facebook,
Never judge others by what they read. One can take pleasure in both literary classics and “smut”. There are no sides…. only the enjoyment of reading. There are some people who get quite sniffy about books – sometimes you almost feel as though you should apologise for not reading “proper” books. Well why should you apologise? If you get enjoyment from the books that you read does it really matter what they are?
I think I might have mentioned that I read a lot of books - a large variety of books. Just recently I have been reading a few that are described as Chick-Lit, or romantic comedies. They aren’t just girly romance books – they are funny books, the heroine might have had some bad luck or circumstances to overcome but has struggled through. She is often a strong independent person and the hero (if there is one) is not perfect either. Mind you many times I am almost shouting at the heroine to tell her not to bother with the “love interest” Some authors that I can recommend are Sibel Hodge, Talli Roland and Donna Fasano
The cosy mysteries are those that are more of a puzzle where an unexplained death is investigated by an amateur. There are no gory details or excessive violence. Recommended authors are Cecilia Peartree, Susan Parry and Lynda Wilcox.
I have also enjoyed a few paranormal type stories – Terri Reid being the best author that I have found in this genre.
